There is no set schedule at Hamatethy. Guests are free to take part in as much or as little as they wish, choosing what feels right on each day.
Some experiences are guided, others are self-led. All are designed to deepen connection to the land, without ever feeling prescriptive or demanding.
You are guided around the enclosure to see the dams and channels created by the beavers. You are likely to see beavers swimming and feeding around the ponds. The best time to watch is from around an hour before sunset and into the evening.
Torches are provided and also some binoculars. Please bring your own if you have them.
There is also a viewing spot which can be visited at any time for quiet observation.
The stork enclosure offers a chance to learn about the reintroduction of a lost species and the wider work taking place across the estate.
These striking birds are a powerful symbol of what careful restoration and long-term thinking can achieve.
Guided walks range from gentle routes to more challenging terrain and typically last between one and three hours.
Options include moorland walks, woodland routes, meadow paths and early morning dawn chorus walks, each offering a different perspective on the land.
One free ‘All-abilities’ yoga session is offered as part of your stay, with locations chosen according to weather and season. Additional sessions can be arranged with your host after booking.
Retreat groups may bring their own teachers, while local instructors are available for other stays.
Seasonal foraging walks explore edible leaves, berries and autumn mushrooms, led by an experienced guide.
These walks encourage slower observation and a deeper awareness of seasonal change.
